- What
is the Medallion Ball?
The Medallion Ball is held annually to honor young women in at least their senior year of high school for volunteer service. The Medallion Ball is sponsored by St. Lucy's Auxiliary as a fund raiser with proceeds donated to Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh, an organization that provides services to the visually impaired.
- Who
is eligible for the Ball?
To be a Medallion candidate, a young lady must be of recognized spiritual and moral character, single, not more than 19 years of age, and at least in her senior year of high school at the time of her presentation. Although the Ball is under the patronage of the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh, young women of all faiths are encouraged to participate. St Lucy’s Auxiliary Board of Directors updated the credentials requirements in September 2007. The changes will be phased in over several years. As such, the credentials requirements are different for the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Ball years as we phase in the new requirements.
